Seven Catholic Things to do in Cleveland this Weekend 9/20 to 9/22

Seven Catholic Things to do in Cleveland this Weekend 9/20 to 9/22

1.        The Conversionof St. Paul Shrine on E 41st & Euclid is one of our city’s true treasures.  Home of the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration.  This is where Mother Angelica started her vocation at this very Cleveland monastery.  While there, make sure to visit the All Saints Oratory.  Come and venerate the relics of the Greatest Saints who ever lived!  It is truly amazing.  Schedule from their website:

2.       While you are driving around this weekend, why not resolve to listen to Catholic radio.  We have two great stations in the diocese.  Cleveland based 1260 the Rock and Living BreadRadio out of Canton.  We also love the sermons on Sensus Fidelium

3.       Every single Friday from 2pm to 6pm, one man has committed to praying in front of Preterm – Ohio’s largest abortion clinic.  Why not join him this Friday – even if it is only for 20 minutes and a Rosary.  “You are the Man, Fred!”

4.       OK, we love the fact that there is this big Latin Mass revival in Cleveland going on right now, but if our family starts losing its parking spot at St. Stephens Sunday at 9:30, we’re going to have to stop mentioning it.   So for now, Friday night, pick an Immaculate Conception.  6 pm in Cleveland and 7pm in Willoughby.  Saturdays now have two choices – 8 am at Mary Queen of Peace and 9 am at St. Elizabeth (which is less than one mile from Preterm if you want to head over for a Rosary before or after).  Sunday, well there is a full slate.  Check out one of these two great websites.

5.       Don’t know about you, but we have a bad habit of instinctively buying books online as soon as we come across them.  A far better practice is to visit your neighborhood Catholic bookstore and enjoy the browsing before settling on a couple of gems.  There is no place better for this than Tilma.

6.       Cardinal Burke and Bishop Schneider recently announced a Crusade of Prayer and Fasting.  Definitely jump in on this.  They call on the faithful to pray and fast over a 40 day period leading up to the Amazon Synod.  Read more here:

7.       We started with the Poor Clares so let’s end with the Poor Clares.  The westsiders are actually a different order or branch or wing, we think.  Poor Clare Colettines of Cleveland.  Located at 3501 Rocky River Dr, there is no better place to pray than their Perputual Adoration Chapel.  The Browns don’t play until Sunday night, so attend the 2:40 Holy Rosary on Sunday followed by Benediction.

“Know that the greatest service that man can offer to God is to help convert souls.” St. Rose of Lima
