CLEVELAND, OH, August 2, 2024 - Join the Poor Clare Colettine Nuns of Cleveland (on Rocky River Dr) for a one-of-a-kind Novena beginning August 2nd to celebrate the 830th anniversary of the birth of St. Clare of Assisi.

The pilgrim relics of St. Clare and St. Francis of Assisi will arrive at the Poor Clares monastery for the first-ever tour in North America. The relics, housed in a beautifully crafted brass reliquary, will be available for veneration during each day of the novena.  The relics will be exposed daily (Monday thru Saturday) for veneration in the chapel from 7:30am to 7:30 pm.  Schedule slightly different on Sunday.

“With the arrival of these two exceptionally large pilgrim relics of our holy Father, St. Francis, and our holy Mother, St. Clare, who were known to have an intense devotion to the Holy Eucharist,” observed Mother Dolores, P.C.C., “this year’s novena promises to foster a unique atmosphere conducive to personal prayer and reflection.”

A presentation will be made each day of the novena at Benediction. The custodian of the relics is Rev. Joseph Marquis, Pastor of Sacred Heart Byzantine Catholic Church in Livonia, Michigan. Father Joseph is the founder of All Saints Shrine, located within his parish church. There he hosts pilgrimages and individual group tours where an estimated 270 first class relics are housed in custom-designed oak cabinets, formally blessed by His Grace, the Most Reverend Robert Pipta, Bishop of the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Parma, OH, on the Sunday of All Saints, May 26, 2024.

The Novena in honor of Saint Clare of Assisi will be held at the monastery chapel, 3501 Rocky River Drive, during the daily Benediction services, at 7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, preceded by the Rosary at 2:45 p.m.

This first-ever North American pilgrimage of these relics of Saint Clare and Saint Francis of Assisi, the cofounders of this order of women contemplatives, will begin on Friday, August 2, 2024. They will be available for daily public veneration until the conclusion of the Solemn Feast Day celebrations at Benediction on Sunday, August 11th, 2024.

The Poor Clare Nuns on Rocky River Dr are one of Cleveland's greatest treasures.  Please pray for an increase in their vocations.  Please also pray for a great Restoration of the Faith in Cleveland.  Pray for the souls in Purgatory.   Pray for peace in our streets and abroad...and pray for an end to the killing of the innocent, particularly innocent unborn children.

Please continue to visit the Poor Clares chapel regularly for Adoration, even after this novena concludes:  "If souls but understood the Treasure they possess in the Divine Eucharist...the Churches would overflow with adorers consumed with love for the Divine prisoner no less by night than by day." Blessed Dina Belanger

*As many of you know, St Clare shares the same feast day as St Philomena - August 11. According to "The life of St. Clare of Assisi from the Vision of Bl. Anne Catherine Emmerich" on the night of Clare's death, the Blessed Virgin Mary, St Philomena and several virgins took her soul into heaven with great joy.

St Clare, pray for us
St Francis, pray for us
St Philomena, pray for us
St Veronica Giuliani, pray for us
Blessed Solanus Casey, pray for us
St Anthony, pray for us
Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us
