“Silent night! Holy night! All is calm! All is bright!” Once again this year, the Solanus Casey Project will be bringing the hope and joy of Christmas to one of Cleveland’s darkest places.  On Sunday, 12/19 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm, friends of the Solanus Casey Project will be singing Advent Carols in front of PreTerm . Gift-wrapped new winter gloves, hats, and socks, gift cards and lightly worn coats will also be given away to folks in the PreTerm neighborhood. Many of these items were donated by the families at Padre Pio Academy and by young adults active in the St. Oliver Plunkett Social Club.  All of Cleveland is welcome to participate in the carolling. The involvement of the Oliver Plunkett Club is an exciting development this year.  A group only recently formed by young adults from Cleveland’s Latin Mass parishes, the OPC has quickly become one of the fastest growing clubs in the diocese.  A recent OPC Advent Retreat at Mary Queen of Peace had sixty young adults participate.   Ready for some wonderful news in the Diocese of Cleveland? This past Saturday at Mary Queen of Peace, a tremendous turnout of nearly sixty young adults showed up for a first ever Advent Retreat sponsored by the St. Oliver Plunkett Club.   The day long retreat began with a Traditional Latin Mass and included Confessions, Holy Rosary, Eucharistic Adoration, and three inspiring talks by local priests.  Father Doug Brown gave the opening address on preparing for Advent; Father Daniel Bowen spoke on St Joseph; and Father Kevin Estabrook gave the keynote address on the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Oliver Plunkett Club is only in its first year and the retreat was scheduled quickly in time for Advent, so organizers were initially hoping for 20 maybe 30 attendees for its inaugural retreat.  The fact that over twice as many folks as initially expected ultimately turned out shows how hungry young adults are for authentic Catholic teaching. Young adults are clearly tired of the ugliness and ch

A young, workaholic philosophy professor, Athanasius Burke, returns to Northeastern Ohio to celebrate Christmas with his family.  Upon his arrival home, Athanasius learns the sad news that his  treasured childhood parish may be losing the Traditional Latin Mass.  The next morning at breakfast, he agrees to help his family attempt to save the Latin Mass at St Killian. Later that day while visiting his favorite Catholic bookstore, Athanaisius bumps into former girlfriend, Mamie Tullamore. Mamie has taken over operation of the bookstore after her aunt suffered an adverse reaction related to a vaccine.  The bookstore has a small bakery and the two enjoy hot chocolate and her aunt’s famous Advent cookies - the best in town.  They agree to meet the next evening. In the morning, Athanasius attends the “Save the Latin Mass at St Killian'' meeting.  Although only in town for two weeks, Athanasius is drafted as the leader.  He learns that the diocese will be deciding between St Killian an
