What to do in Catholic Cleveland the weekend of July 13-14

By Father X

There’s a lot going on in Catholic Cleveland this weekend and I encourage you to take advantage of it. Consider these Catholic opportunities this weekend:
1. International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima to visit several parishes this weekend. On her travels to the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis, several parishes are blessed to have a visit by the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima. Come see the beautiful statue on Friday, July 12th at the Shrine of St. Elizabeth of Hungary (Cleveland); on Saturday, July 13th at St. Jerome (Cleveland); and at St. Sebastian (Akron) on Sunday July 14th. Each parish has their own schedule so please call or check their social media for more information.

2. Catholic Summer Speaker Series continues at Mary Queen of Peace. Noted author Mr. Patrick O’Hearn will speak at Mary Queen of Peace (Cleveland) about “The Prayer Life of the Parents of the Saints” at 7 PM on Friday, July 12th. In 2021, Mr. O’Hearn wrote Parents of the Saints: The Hidden Heroes Behind Our Favorite Saints. There will be books available for purchase. Interested in the Confraternity of Christian Mothers? Come early at 6:15 PM for their monthly meeting.
3. Our Lady of Mount Carmel (West) annual Italian Festival. Enjoy great food and games as well as the knowledge of helping out a terrific city parish at the 98th Annual OLMC Italian Festival which runs from Thursday, July 12th through Sunday, July 14th. Make sure you attend the Procession of Saints on Detroit Avenue at 1 pm on Sunday, July 14th!
4. Was the last time you went to Confession on Divine Mercy Sunday? It’s time to go again – in fact, monthly Confession is a good practice. Consider making your Confession this weekend. The Sacrament of Penance is offered in most Catholic churches on Saturday mornings or afternoons as well as an increasing number of parishes are offering Confessions on Sunday mornings! Contact your local parish for more information!
What do you have going on this weekend?
