Catholic Young Adult Group Offering Free Cleveland Advent Retreat - 12/4 @ MQP

In just a few short months, a new Catholic social club in Cleveland has raised funds for an inner-city parish, distributed free Chicken Paprikash dinners in the Buckeye neighborhood, prayed at PreTerm, and hosted several relaxed, fun and informal gatherings for young Catholic adults. This bold and creative crew is just getting started and they want you to join them!

In the spirit of the late Bishop Pilla and his ground-breaking “Church in the City” initiative, the group is committed to championing Cleveland’s beautiful, historic urban churches.  They are actively helping to revitalize several of these churches through their support of “the Mass of the Ages” - the Traditional Latin Mass.  The young Catholic adults believe “the Good, the True, and the Beautiful” can help bring home many of the 500,000 Catholics in our diocese no longer attending Mass.

This new group is the Oliver Plunkett Social Club.  What’s next for this merry band of traditional evangelizers?  An epic Advent Retreat featuring three of Cleveland’s most devoted priests: Father Doug Brown, Father Kevin Estabrook and Father Daniel Bowen. The event includes a Traditional Latin Mass, the Rosary, Adoration, Confession and talks as well as complimentary Breakfast and Lunch.

The group invites young Catholics 18-35 to join them on December 4th at Mary Queen of Peace for this retreat. It is free of charge, but please register ahead of time via EventBrite at this link:

Pope Francis recently stated: “I invite everyone to be bold and creative in this task of rethinking the goals, structures, style, and methods of evangelization in the respective communities.” And that’s just what these young folks intend to do! May God Bless this "bold and creative" evangelization project from the young adults in the Oliver Plunkett Social Club.  If you know someone who might be interested, please share this information and lovingly encourage his or her participation.

About the Oliver Plunkett Club:

We are a group formed by young Catholics from Cleveland's Latin Mass parishes (roughly college-aged through late thirties). We are young Catholics – on fire with the faith – who love God and wish to serve our community.

Our namesake, St. Oliver Plunkett, was an Irish bishop and martyr. Through his intercession we hope to exemplify his courage, defending the faith even to our deaths. He was well respected both in the Vatican and across Ireland for bringing together Catholics of different liturgical traditions, and he was extremely loyal to the Holy Father.

We meet after the 5:30 TLM at St. Ignatius of Antioch on the second Monday of every month. We also plan service projects in addition to the social on second Mondays.
